Over the course of our careers, we managed people who were in the wrong role and needed redirection. We watched people gradually stagnate, not knowing how to position themselves for a promotion or propel themselves in a direction offering a fresh start. And we repeatedly saw late career professionals become financially, but perhaps not emotionally, equipped for retirement. The common denominator among these was often a lack of preparation and a lack of confidence.‌

Careers have inflection points and we have managed many of our own, including our most recent pivot toward building a professional coaching business. Talent development – including campus recruiting, training, performance evaluation and mentorship – was a meaningful part of our professional journeys. Along the way we learned many valuable lessons that strongly inform our approach.
